New!! I have now uploaded the Preface, Contents, and a nifty graphic about shakuhachi history from the about-to-be-issued translation of Keisukei Zenyoji's book Beginner's Guide to Shakuhachi. Boy has this thing taken me a long time! I will post a link to where you can buy it (from Mejiro, a shakuhachi store in Tokyo) when it's available, but for now enjoy the PREVIEW.

3/2007: Sorry for the very long hiatus on this site, and thanks to everyone who filled out the survey. I learned that most of you like the site design, and you want more information on history, philosophy, techniques, and just about everything else. I will try.

I may have been neglecting this site, but I have actuallty been fairly busy with shakuhachi-related translation (not to mention working, raising kids, and, oh yeah, actually playing shakuhachi). I have translated the entire scores and liner notes to Kohachiro Miyazawa's works and CDs, which I will post a link to here once they are published. I have also just finished translating a full book on beginning shakuhachi, which also has yet to be published. I will post excerpts from that in the near future and let you know when it's on sale.
