4 June 2012 A Day at Fushimi Inari Shrine
Last week there was in international shakuhachi conference in Kyoto, and I served as volunteer interpreter. One of the participants and I went on a lovely walk through Fushimi Inari shrine (伏見稲荷大社) in the south of Kyoto. I’d been a bunch of times already, but it’s always fun to go because it’s so huge and offers so many opportunities for getting lost on curvy mountain trails.
These photos are of the shrine proper, and are basically just a prelude for my next post, which will be of all the photos I took of the mountain paths we wound our way through.
The shrine deity is a fox spirit, so here is the obligatory photo of one of the fox statues. Everything else is just….shrine stuff. Pretty self-explanatory.
