9 October 2007 Egregiously Cute Photos
I know there is a limit to the number of egregiously cute baby photos anyone can stand, but I haven’t posted any for a while so indulge me.

(Don’t be disrespectin’ my baby by failing to click to enlarge.)
Zoe Tamaki has become a completely different baby in the past week or so. The trigger was a grape. We had given her one slice of mandarin orange to suck on (while holding it to make sure she didn’t swallow) the day before, and although she seemed to enjoy it that first exposure to real food didn’t have much of an impact. However, the next day we gave her a peeled red grape in a little net to suck on, and she went wild over it. After that, she started grabbing for food and also vocalizing much more in general. I call it vocalizing, but it’s really half-way to a scream. She screams when she’s happy, she screams when she’s sad, she screams when she’s just feeling her oats. That was some damn grape. I just hope she’s over this very vocal phase before our plane ride to the States next month.
Then again, knowing my family it could be permanent. And I enjoyed her so much as a quiet, docile baby….
Since she can’t get to the salami on the plate (she tried), she’s content to gnaw on the table.
Chewing on daddy’s thumb is always nice, too. More about the scene of this photo tomorrow.
(Thanks for the photo, Jeffrey.)

Did you use a self timer for that last one? What kind of tripod? :-)
Tamaki-chan looks cute, but too bad her daddy has no concept about proper digital-photography color adjustment. She should have him compare the last photo with, say, http://regex.info/i/DSCF9095_sm.jpg
The same could be said for the first two, which, I must say, have excellent composition. ;-)

On my monitor your version looks like we’re albinos. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. :)

OK, you shamed me into adjusting the white balance, although not as drastically as in yours.

Zack, egregious indeed. We have begun weaning our 5-month old son but he’s indifferent so far – maybe we should try the grape trick. How old is Zoe…?
Cheers

Jeff’s version is perfect, to my eyes.
